Underpinning existing load-bearing masonry wall foundations of a row house in Washington DC to convert an existing crawlspace into a full basement as part of an overall building renovation. Conventional pit underpinning was utilized to lower the subgrade elevation by over 9 feet while maintaining the stability of the existing structure and the neighboring buildings.
